Meet "Alter Ego", our new White Pinot Noir!

Pinot Noir can be white.

Today we’re excited to introduce something a little unexpected from Nevis Bluff – our very first White Pinot Noir, the 2026 Alter Ego.

Made from Pinot Noir grapes grown at our L’Attitude Vineyard in the Pisa sub-region of Central Otago, Alter Ego reveals a completely different side of this much-loved variety. The name says it all: an alter ego is another side of yourself – familiar in origin, yet entirely different in expression. And that’s exactly what winemaker Matt Connell set out to capture.

The hand-selected Pinot Noir grapes were picked on 8 April 2026 and whole-bunch pressed before being fermented in stainless steel. With no malolactic fermentation, the focus is firmly on freshness, purity and the natural aromatics of the fruit.

In the glass, Alter Ego is bright and pale copper in colour. The nose is vibrant and lifted, with stone fruit aromas of nectarine and peach, alongside subtle hints of cherry. On the palate, layers of redcurrant, strawberry and citrus bring both texture and freshness, with an energetic, beautifully balanced finish.

It’s a wine that challenges expectations while remaining unmistakably Central Otago.

Fresh, dry and incredibly versatile, Alter Ego is made for summer – equally at home as an aperitif or alongside antipasti, smoked salmon and fresh summer salads.

After more than 25 years of crafting Pinot Noir, we thought it was time to show you another side of the grape.
